Designated facilities for PEP, HIV testing of alleged offenders

The Minister of Health has published, in Government Gazette No 34420, 5 July 2011, a list of public health facilities providing post-exposure prophylaxis and conducting compulsory HIV testing of alleged sexual offenders in terms of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act.

Hospitals in the Eastern Cape include:

  • Thuthuzela Centres in Mdantsane, Prot Elizabeth, and at the St Barnabas Hospital in Libode
  • Sinawe Referral Centre at the Mthatha General Hospital
  • Komani Crisis Life Centre in Queenstown.

Hospitals in the Free State include:

  • National District Hospital in Bloemfontein
  • Bothshabelo District Hospital
  • Diamant Hospital in Jagersfontein
  • Embekweni Hospital in Zastrom
  • Mantsaya Hospital on Ladybrand.
