New handbook seeks to guide MPs on child participation in Parliament

UNICEF and the Inter-Parliamentary Union have published A Handbook on Child Participation in Parliament. The work explains to parliamentarians why children’s participation in parliamentary processes is valuable, and it also guides them through the steps they need to take to facilitate this participation.

The Handbook provides valuable information about what constitutes meaningful children’s participation; why parliamentarians should involve children and what they can gain from such involvement; the ethical underpinnings of children’s participation; the different parliamentary processes amendable to children’s participation; and how to make the parliamentary environment conducive to child participation.
