Invitation to join a South African child-participation network

André Viviers of UNICEF has extended the following invitation to all interested persons to join a child-participation network.

“Dear colleagues and friends,

“Some might recall that I have sent a similar email regarding a child-participation network a few years ago. Then my Telkom internet system collapsed and I was unable to access my email. Subsequently, I managed to retrieve the address book. Long story short … it is up and running again. Thus, a RE-INVITE to join the Child Participation Network. It has its own email address:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

“The aim of the Child Participation Network is to facilitate a network of child right advocates, organisations, service providers and interested parties that will promote the ethical, meaningful and appropriate participation of children from birth to 18.

“How do you join? Simply send an email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and insert the word ‘join’ you will be automatically inserted in the address list.

“Key objectives: to establish and share a database of a network of interested parties in child participation; to share information on policy and practice amongst participants through email; to tap into participants' resourcefulness to provide guidance, support and critique on child participation processes.

“How does it work? Interested parties should reply to this email address. This will be used to set up a database. Participants will receive a regular update email that will share information from across the globe on child participation. Participants will get the opportunity to share their experiences, reports and information with other members of The Child Participation Network. In that way we build core knowledge and practice base.

“Who can participate? It is open to anybody who wishes to become a participant and who seeks to promote the ethical, meaningful and appropriate participation of children from birth to 18.

“Are there any costs? None. It is all for FREE.

“Looking forward to your response.

“Andre Viviers.”
